Direct Mindfulness: mind training for lasting happiness.
Discover the “Direct Mindfulness” approach!
Have you tried to stick at a mindfulness routine but not had much success? Perhaps you are wanting to improve your well-being but have limited time and patience for practising mindfulness. Effortless mindfulness is a new way to be able to connect to a sense of completude that can be easily integrated into your everyday life.
Have you experienced this before?
Frequently, people remember a time in childhood—often when they were in nature, but not always—when they felt a sense of deep relaxation, peace, connection, love, joy, or ease. Or they talk about flow-like states of absorption spontaneously arising as they are participating in sports, creative activities, or intimacy with another person. We remember these times as times of fulfilment and wellbeing. My assumption when I hear these stories is that the ability to connect with a sense of just being is part of what it means to be human. This quality of being is available to us at any time and has always been available; it just tends to get obscured. Effortless mindfulness trains us to stabilise and deepen our ability to uncover this sense of being.
What is effortless mindfulness?
The majority of contemporary mindfulness books/apps promote what we could call deliberate or “effortful” mindfulness – a practice requiring stillness and deep concentration. In this kind of mindfulness the meditator focuses on various “objects” including breath, sounds, body and emotions. Effortless mindfulness on the other hand goes beyond basic mindfulness – it is the letting go of thoughts, present moments, and attention—opening to a naturally compassionate, non-conceptual awareness that is interconnected here and now.Known as the direct approach, the premise of effortless mindfulness is that the awake loving nature we are seeking is already here within us and can be accessed immediately. Following this approach, we are able to uncover a state of natural awareness through a modern-context appropriate practice that can be easily integrated into the workdays of ordinary people.

About the Instructor
Through my personal experiences, I have always held a strong interest in human suffering and satisfaction. My own anxieties and fears have lead me to pursue a career in this field meaning that I bring not only professional but personal experiences to my work as a life coach. I offer a warm and down to earth approach to life coaching, and seek to help others to identify what gives them meaning and purpose in their lives as a means of achieving happiness. My training, education, and experience in the field mean that my work as a life-coach is firmly grounded in an understanding of psychological theory and approaches. Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, I subsequently pursued my interest in psychology by completing an MSc in psychology at Regent’s University London. I then completed a postgraduate diploma in philosophical counselling before being trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy by Dr. Russ Harris.

Testimonials:
“Emotional Intelligence is a way of recognising, understanding, and choosing how we think, feel, and act. It shapes our interactions with others and our understanding of ourselves. It defines how and what we learn; it allows us to set priorities; it determines the majority of our daily actions. Research suggests it is responsible for as much as 80% of the “success” in our lives.”
JOSHUA FREEDMAN
Author
“What really matters for success, character, happiness and life long achievements is a definite set of emotional skills – your EQ — not just purely cognitive abilities that are measured by conventional IQ tests.”
DANIEL GOLEMAN
Psychologist and Writer
“In the last decade or so, science has discovered a tremendous amount about the role emotions play in our lives. Researchers have found that even more than IQ, your emotional awareness and abilities to handle feelings will determine our success and happiness in all walks of life, including family relationships.”
