    What is effortless mindfulness?

    The majority of contemporary mindfulness books/apps promote what we could call deliberate or “effortful” mindfulness – a practice requiring stillness and deep concentration. In this kind of mindfulness the meditator focuses on various “objects” including breath, sounds, body and emotions. Effortless mindfulness on the other hand goes beyond basic mindfulness – it is the letting go of thoughts, present moments, and attention—opening to a naturally compassionate, non-conceptual awareness that is interconnected here and now.Known as the direct approach, the premise of effortless mindfulness is that the awake loving nature we are seeking is already here within us and can be accessed immediately. Following this approach, we are able to uncover a state of natural awareness through a modern-context appropriate practice that can be easily integrated into the workdays of ordinary people.

    Through my personal experiences, I have always held a strong interest in human suffering and satisfaction. My own anxieties and fears have lead me to pursue a career in this field meaning that I bring not only professional but personal experiences to my work as a life coach. I offer a warm and down to earth approach to life coaching, and seek to help others to identify what gives them meaning and purpose in their lives as a means of achieving happiness.My training, education, and experience in the field mean that my work as a life-coach is firmly grounded in an understanding of psychological theory and approaches. Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, I subsequently pursued my interest in psychology by completing an MSc in psychology at Regent’s University London. I then completed a postgraduate diploma in philosophical counselling before being trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy by Dr. Russ Harris.
