Why Is Emotional Intelligence Education Important?

Whether you have heard of emotional intelligence education before, you’re sure to know that emotions can cause big problems on a daily basis. When left unmanaged and misunderstood, our emotions can cause us to become unfocused at work and unhappy in our personal relationships. This is why more and more people are taking the time to practice mindfulness, emotional management, and emotional understanding; all of which can be categorised under the broader term of emotional intelligence.

Despite this information, a shocking number of people are still underestimating the importance of taking the time to fully educate ourselves on our very own emotions. Not only does this mean understanding what it is that we are feeling, but understanding why we are feeling that way and how we can manage it. After all, emotions can cause major highs and major lows, as all of us know. This is where emotional intelligence education plays a big part. However, how much do you know about emotional intelligence education and why it is important? Well, you’re about to find out.

What Is Emotional Intelligence Education?

Investing in understanding emotional wellbeing and our own mindfulness is referred to as emotional intelligence. It simply describes the ability to educate ourselves on our thoughts and feelings. It’s not uncommon for people to invest in their education, as a way to secure a high paying job or to ensure that they’re able to achieve set goals in their chosen career. However, very few people consider the importance of investing in their emotional intelligence. A great deal of money is invested into educational intelligence and academic intelligence each and every year, but emotional intelligence is often placed on the back burner.

Similarly, there’s an entire lucrative industry based upon the sheer number of people who work hard to better their physical health. Millions of people every year invest in gym memberships, personal trainers, expensive supplements and medical health professionals. However, very few of these people invest in their emotional intelligence. Though a lot of people are happy to spend money boosting their physical health, less are considering the importance of spending money to boost their emotional form.

Why Is Emotional Intelligence Education Important?

It’s easy to assume that our emotions cannot be controlled, that they happen to us and that there’s very little that we can do about them. It isn’t uncommon for someone to assume that our emotions are just part of life, that they don’t affect us in any way other than causing a bad mood or an emotional slump here and there. However, that isn’t the case. Our emotions have a huge impact on all areas of our lives, such as the way that we perform at work and our ability to develop healthy relationships with others. When our emotions are not understood and managed, things can begin to spiral.

Managing emotions isn’t easy, that’s something that everyone can agree on. This is why a lot of people don’t take the time to understand and manage their emotions fully, leaving everything up to luck instead. However, this isn’t ideal and it’s definitely not recommended. The quality of our emotional life reflects the overall quality of our lives and relationships, both business and personal. It doesn’t matter whether we achieve everything we want to at work and reach the top of the corporate ladder, all of this will be in vain if we’re too stressed to enjoy any of our own success. In the same way, a beautiful holiday or a fantastic new home is only impressive if we are able to manage and understand our emotions enough to enjoy them.

Thoughts and emotions can creep up on us at any moment, but it’s our ability to recognise them that’s most important. It’s important to us, as individuals, to know how to keep our emotions balanced and in check. Otherwise, we run the risk of hindering ourselves in other areas of our lives. This is where emotional education intelligence comes in. By investing in bettering our own understanding and ability to recognise different emotions, we stand a much better chance of leading an emotionally balanced life.

As you can see, there are a number of impressive benefits that come with emotional intelligence education. It doesn’t just help us emotionally, but it also helps us in many other areas of life. It can help us to navigate tricky relationships and it can guide us through our careers in a way that’s free from a lot of the stress that we’re used to. With this in mind, it may come as quite a surprise to find that very few people are adequately investing the time and money that they need to into emotional intelligence education. Luckily, this is something that is slowly changing as more people realise the importance of emotional education intelligence.

Our greatest moments, memories, and experiences aren’t defined by their magnitude or greatness, but by the people who fill them and give them life. ✨

With rising temperatures, worrisome droughts, and looming environmental issues, it’s perfectly normal to feel sad, anxious, angry, and powerless. 😔

In times like this, mindfulness and self-awareness can be crucial in your ability to cope with fear. Here are 3 tips to help manage your climate anxiety:

🌍 Practice acceptance, not denial - accept you can't change the world on your own, only your tiny role within it
🌍 Try not to feel responsible for others - concentrate on your own journey.
🌍 Reduce your carbon footprint - take pride in lifestyle changes that you make.

The greatest challenges we experience are often also our greatest teachers.

If you’re repeatedly experiencing the same challenge, know that it is there not to push you down or hold you back, but to teach and strengthen you. 💪

Fear is often the thing that holds us back most from developing a deeper self-knowledge and awareness in our lives:

🌖 We fear being vulnerable.
🌗 We fear change.
🌘 We fear the truth.
🌑 We fear being wrong.

In moments that you feel fear creeping up on you, or notice it holding you back, take a moment to question your fear and ask yourself if your fear is truly serving you.
